WWF, one of the world’s largest independent conservation organizations, has a global network active in more than 100 countries. As part of the WWF Greater Mekong Program (GMP), WWF Cambodia manages a wide array of conservation projects in the forest, freshwater and species priority areas. WWF Cambodia is seeking an experienced national candidate for the position of Community Awareness Officer based in Kratie Province.
The Community Awareness Officer will develop and implement environmental awareness programs in communities near WWF Freshwater Programme projects along the Mekong River and its tributaries.
Major duties and Responsibilities
- Design, produce, and post awareness information on WWF conservation projects
- Plan and undertake conservation awareness activities in the communities, schools, and pagodas.
- Plan and co-ordinate community awareness workshops, in co-operation with partners
- Co-ordinate environmental conservation awareness efforts with local partners
- Collaborate with local partners on livelihood development and dolphin conservation.
- Assist dolphin project team with annual dolphin population survey.
- Facilitate dolphin mortality reporting and collection; and assist with necropsies when required.
- Conduct interviews to collect information on conservation issues in target communities
- English-Khmer translation of relevant project documents and reports.
- Produce monthly summary report on awareness activities.
Qualifications
- University degree in natural resource management, environment, or education, master degree is preferable.
- At least three years experience in educational and awareness work on environmental protection and conservation and alternative livelihood development.
- Experience in working with NGOs, local authorities, and relevant government agencies.
- Fluency in both writing and speaking Khmer and English.
- Proficiency in MS Office and good photography skills.
